Nota autobiográfica:
Tengo 3 perros.
He visto casi 40 especies diferentes de aves.
Vienen a comer, buscando bichos, precisamente.

Autobiographical note:
I have 3 dogs. Across the street from my house is the most horrific dry land of all the dry lands on planet earth. That's where I take my dogs out.
We call it the poop and snail trail. Basically because there is so much of both.
But,
That scrubland is teeming with life. You just have to open your eyes a little bit. I've seen almost 40 different species of birds.
And yesterday I saw the first swallow.
Spring is already here.
I am fascinated by swallows. How they are able to orient themselves, how incredible their flights are... I could spend hours watching them.
But I'm not the only one who likes them. The swallow is the bird that has most inspired human beings all over the planet. Numerous myths and legends make it the protagonist.
In some parts of Africa it is synonymous with purity as it remains in the air for a long time and does not stain its plumage with the earth.
In China they symbolize happiness in marriage as they are faithful to their partner throughout their lives.
In ancient Greece, swallows were the standard of clairvoyance, since by feeding their young, who are born blind, they give them sight.
When ancient sailors sighted this bird, they knew that the coast was near. It symbolized for them the safe return home, since swallows always return home. The more swallows a sailor had tattooed on his body, the more experienced in navigation he was considered to be, since they used to be tattooed every five thousand nautical miles.
They have even inspired beautiful poems.
Swallows are migratory birds. They come to eat, looking for bugs, precisely.
If there were no bugs, there would be no feeding, the swallows would not come, and we would not be able to marvel at their incredible flights.
Speaking of bugs:

You study swallows can be a nice way to study in class ecological balances, poetry, geography, history, the fascinating migration of birds, of the changing seasons....
Can you see how a simple swallow can create a very cool learning situation?
Another springtime critter is the silkworm. Check out these suggestions to work on in class or at home:
A silkworm mini-course worth 33 euros. Here you have a breeding module, a life cycle module and 6 activities to observe them better.
A more "fat" silkworm course (110 euros), to become a super expert on silkworms, to do projects in class or at home, to observe them microscopically...
You can buy them in the links above.
