English version below
Pues no.
No te deja indiferente.

PD2. tengo curiosidad:
The girl in the photo above is me, a few years ago, dressed as a scientist doing scientific things. Specifically, what I'm doing in that picture is cryopreserving mouse embryos.
That is, freezing them.
In my unit, we developed a lot on the cryopreservation of embryos and mouse sperm.
It was cool to go around freezing embryos, and then whole little mice came out.
Wonders of science.
Sixty years ago, you told that to someone, and they would look at you with a face like, "What are you talking about?
That's impossible.
But yes, I swear we used to do it.
The thing is that yesterday, all this came to my mind because I had a passionate conversation with a guy.
And you're probably thinking, oh, some cryopreservationist scientist I hang out with from time to time.
Well, no.
Even more interesting.
With an investor.
I was talking to Gonzalo Ruiz Utrilla, an entrepreneur, engineer, and investor with a thousand businesses and interests in dance. I thought I was a restless ass until I talked to Gonzalo yesterday and realized that I am just an ordinary amateur.
The thing is that Gonzalo is an investor in a company that does human cryopreservation, Tomorrowbiostasis.
That is, they freeze you like Walt Disney.
And we started talking about all the scientific, philosophical, ethical, legal, economic... implications that this could have.
The conversation was fascinating, and I was very impressed by the scientific level Gonzalo handled.
But is it scientifically possible to freeze yourself?
In a short version, yes, but the most challenging thing is to unfreeze you and keep everything in order and working.
That is the principal scientific challenge.
Can it ever be done?
I'm no fortune teller, but something tells me there's a good chance it will.
You see, I have done things with my little hands that were unthinkable 60 years ago.
So, in this company, they freeze you in the best way that is scientifically possible today. But they also make it very clear that they do not guarantee reversibility.
Therefore, it would be legally equivalent to a funeral procedure today.
The ethical, philosophical, and legal implications of all this are also exciting.
If we accept, for example, that someone is cremated for religious reasons because they believe in reincarnation or whatever.
Why shouldn't we accept that someone is cryopreserved because he believes in science and trusts that maybe tomorrow he can be revived?
Gonzalo has a newsletter where he talks about all these topics and his thousands of other concerns, which are equally exciting.
He says they are conversations he has with his friends. I assure you that it was a joy to talk to him. He does not leave you indifferent.
His newsletter does not leave you indifferent, either. He writes every week about topics that inevitably get you thinking.
Do not tell me it is not cool to debate in a class on anything: science, philosophy, entrepreneurship?
About the state-of-the-art explanations of human cryopreservation, I recommend you to read his article.
He explains it very well.
And to subscribe to his newsletter is here:
Do it.
A huge
María
PS1. By the way, Gonzalo is a normal guy, charming and with a beautiful baby girl who attended the conversation asleep attached to her daddy in his baby-wearing scarf. A cutie.
PS2. I'm curious:
