A group of brave children have chosen to paint those bugs that nobody wants. That most people consider disgusting, like cockroaches, or dangerous like scorpions or spiders.
When I saw them I realized that they are not all insects. Of course, I had said draw bugs.
Within bugs, I did not specify a specific taxonomy.
I tell you.
Taxonomy is the way humans invented to classify living things. It is quite practical.
All those in the drawings are:
Animal kingdom
Phylum Artropoda
Now in this subphylum and class we have already changed.
Marco Antonio's fly from El Salvador has 6 legs. It is an insect. Subphylum hexapoda and class insecta.
Borja's and Valeria's cockroaches are also insects.
Alonso's ball bug is a crustacean subphylum (like shrimp) but class malacostraca. It has 7 pairs of legs.
Scorpions are of the Subphylum: Chelicerata Class :Arachnida and have 8 legs.
The little spider of my niece Silvia, is also of the class Arachnida. But the order is Araneae.
Anyway, there are so many things you can know by counting the legs of a bug.
But beware that there are "false" legs and "true" legs.
For example, the silkworm is an insect but it has a lot of legs, right?
No, it doesn't. It has 6 true legs, with which it picks up mulberry leaves.
The rest are fake legs.
In the silkworm course I tell you how silkworms are classified according to their characteristics. So that this classification becomes understandable and makes sense to you.
And I show you how to look at the false legs, which are really cool because they have mini suckers.
This is useful for two things, to give you minibesitos when you put the worm in your fingers and grabbing the walls.
If you want to teach how living things are and how they are classified in a practical and lively way, I have a project about them also in English. I will show you i n a few days
Best regards
María
