A goddess, a worm and a road that joined two worlds...
English version below

Many years ago, in ancient China, the emperor, Emperor Huangdi, was worried. He watched worriedly as, every spring, the mulberry trees in his beautiful garden filled with lush green leaves.
And before long, they would disappear.
Eager to solve this mystery, he asked his beloved wife, Empress Leizu, to investigate the cause of this curious phenomenon. Perhaps the trees were cursed?
-Calm down, my husband, I will find out, she told him....
And Empress Leizu, who was really smart, found out that what was eating those leaves were silkworms. And she also saw that by pulling the thread from the cocoons, you could pull out a solid, beautiful, strong fabric that you could weave.
So Leizu started an industry that literally changed the history of mankind.
Yes, yes, the existence of this fabric reached the ears of the Romans. They were so fascinated that they could travel halfway around the world in search of it.
And that was the origin of the Silk Road. A bridge between the West and the East through which silk was exchanged and many other goods, culture, experiences, and knowledge?
Today, Leizu would be considered a successful entrepreneur, but for the Chinese, she is much more.
She is a goddess: the goddess of silk.
My course on worms starts with this legend. There is a video in which I tell with beautiful images taken from a Chinese library that I found on the internet how Leizu discovered the silkworm and started this industry that literally changed the history of mankind.
In this video, where I explain the project, you can see a little bit of the beginning, like a movie trailer.
And this can be used in class to work on history, the domestication of animals, entrepreneurial competence, the role of women throughout history, globalization... shall I go on?
Starting with an excellent legend that you can project in class with a beautiful video.
