Vamos, yo, nunca lo he visto.
I live in a country where the goal of a very important percentage of the population is to become a state employee. You can do it very badly, and it is practically impossible to be fired.
At least, I have never seen it.
I got this when I was 30 years old. It is very early, and much more so in the scientific field. I guess I was at the right time in the right place, I don't want to take more credit than I have. But what I come to tell you is that I enjoyed from a very young age a position envied by many people.
But one day, something happened.
Or rather, I saw something.
The expression on the faces of some children.
And of a teacher.
And all those people to whom I was showing the eggs of Danio rerio, the zebrafish.
In 5 years of the project, I can assure you that I have not come across anyone indifferent to see the beginning of life in zebrafish eggs. And you can imagine I have had time to show them to many people.
And then, when I saw that, I understood that I could not die without trying to show it to as many people as possible because seeing how life begins is one of the most incredible things a human being can see.
So I asked for a leave of absence and left my permanent position to do this.
A full-fledged madness.
I can always come back, but I don't want to because I'm hooked on seeing those faces and their incredible, transformative effect on the people who know it.
At the end of June beginning of July (I have to see the date yet) I will take a Danio kit home.
He is a living being, not a child's toy. If you take good care of him, he will grow up, and you will have to give him a home. So you will have to be sure that you want to make this commitment.
There will be very few units, and I can only send them to mainland Spain. It won't be cheap either. I want to attend well and personally to whoever wants to see this marvel.
This is not for everyone, and I want to ensure that whoever has it appreciates it. I don't know if I will bring Danio back home and you will have that opportunity again. But not this summer, for sure.
I will continue to report back.
Best regards
