There are a few hours left to contemplate the beginning of life.
No.
Castellano
¿Tienes más dudas?
Respóndeme a este email y te contestaré gustosa.
¿Donde se compra?
Aquí. Pero solo hasta las 12 de hoy:
Un abrazo
Txus
Today at 12:00 midnight is the deadline for you to see the beginning of life. The most incredible thing a human being can see.
It is very likely to be a train that only passes through your door once.
If you have any doubts, here are the most frequently asked questions.
What does the kit contain?
The kit contains:
*50 zebrafish eggs, Danio rerio, raised at Villapez itself, which despite its funny name is a regulated facility with Zoo Nucleus Registry number: ES031199002032 and which I run as an exemplary scientific veterinarian.
*A petri dish, a duchess and a pasteur pipette.
*A minipecerita to raise them during the first month and a half approximately, aquatic plants adapted to their breeding and special food for that time.
*A thermometer to control the temperature.
*A danioscope, a methacrylate microscope invented by us specifically to see the development of zebrafish eggs. Then you can keep it as a microscope to see a lot of things. Believe me, the one who has it uses it a lot. It is valued at 70 euros.
*You will also get access to a platform where I explain step by step everything you have to do to take care of your eggs and larvae, and exactly what you are seeing. The language is very accessible and anyone can understand it.
The protocol and the proposed explanations have been developed with the experience gained over 5 years of project in more than 200 school classrooms.
You will be able to access these videos until the beginning of the school year.
*You will be able to ask me any questions you may have by email. It is something that I control "bastantico", as my grandmother would say.
After this month and a half, maximum two months, the fry should move to an aquarium.
The aquarium is not included in this kit, nor the instructions to assemble it.
For when that time comes, I will have a specific training called Your first aquarium, which will cost about 100 euros and in which I will explain everything you need to know. Adult zebrafish are very easy to keep.
The aquarium can be purchased at any pet store or if you wish you can buy it from my collaborators, Firemouth Aquaristic.
Will I need anything else?
Yes, Fontvella mineral water.
When will you bring out this kit for houses again?
I don't know.
Certainly not in July and August.
I don't rule out never again. It's going to depend on things that are not in my control.
How many kits will be available in this offer?
15.
When the fifteenth kit is purchased the cart will be closed.
I must warn you that the information to buy this kit is received by at least 13,000 people every day, so if you are sure about it, I would not delay its purchase.
I'm going on vacation, can I take this with me?
It depends on where you are going. During the first week the larvae will be in a duchess or a petri dish. You can keep them anywhere. After that, you will have to feed them and they will be in a small fish tank of 15 x 15 x 15 cm or equivalent.
This can be transported to an apartment on the beach or something like that, but if you are itinerant, camping or similar, better not.
Temperature
Fish are poikilothermic animals, what we studied in school as cold-blooded. This means that they do not keep their body temperature constant. They adapt their metabolism to the external temperature. So if it is cold, everything in them slows down and if it is hot, everything in them speeds up.
Outside a temperature range they cannot live. Between 24 and 30 degrees is their ideal temperature.
This is very important to keep in mind, especially in the first week when you will see all the important changes.
In this week, the eggs hatch in about 4 days if they are at about 24 degrees or so. If they are at 27 degrees, in about 3 days but if it goes above 30-32 degrees, they will go too fast.
Shipping is done at a more or less controlled temperature and at night.
If you live in a place that is too hot and where you are normally, it is over 30 degrees, don't buy it. I don't mean on the street in the middle of the day in the sun. In the street I assume that the summer in Spain is going to be strong. I mean where you are normally inside your house, where you will surely try not to be over 30 degrees, either with air conditioning or because you have a cooler place.
What do the larvae eat?
The kit includes a powdered food that I buy from the USA and is the one that has given me the best results after trying a lot of options in these 5 years. You will have enough to feed them for a month and a half.
How much time will I have to spend on it?
The main part of the project is to see how fish eggs and early larval stages develop. You can see this very well with the danioscope and it can take between 2 and 7 days depending on the ambient temperature. Here you have to be sure that you will be able to watch the evolution at least a couple of times a day and take the time to enjoy it.
If you have a very busy week with a lot of work, don't buy it, although the shipment will be made for the weekend so that you can enjoy it.
After that, you will have to feed the larvae to fry and clean their little fish. This may take you 10 minutes a day, at least. While they are larvae they will have to eat daily.
It is possible that you will get snails, whose eggs you can also look at with the danioscope and are very cool.
When the fish are fry and adults and move to an aquarium you will have to feed them daily (but it is not so strict, they can be some days without eating and if you go on vacation feed them with slow release tablets that hold a lot). Once a week/fortnight/even a month, depending on the plants you have, you will have to do routine care of the aquarium, such as changing the water and pruning the plants.
Of course I am talking about minimum times. You can spend as much time as you want observing the wonder of life.
Is there a money back guarantee?
No.
If you get any defective material or all dead eggs, I will of course exchange them.
But if they don't survive, the plate falls on the floor, or that sort of thing, you don't get your money back.
How many larvae can I expect to survive?
It will depend on the care you give them. This year there have been schools with 90% survival and others with 0%. 8 out of 10 schools have managed to pull them through. It is very rare that they die during the first week if you follow all the advice and the temperature is correct. This is the heart of the activity, so so far, no one has been left without seeing it through.
The delicate moment is when they start to eat, as the respiration changes from cutaneous to gill and it is critical to keep the ammonia under control. The rearing protocol offered in the videos is aimed at overcoming this situation and has been developed with school research over the last 5 years.
If the larvae die, will I have to pay another 375 euros?
In that case you can buy a new batch of eggs for 100 euros. But I don't sell single eggs to people who haven't bought the whole project before.
Do you make an invoice?
Yes, of course I do. If you need it, fill in a form with your billing information and I will send it to you.
It seems very expensive to me
In that case don't buy it.
Where can I buy it from?
The kit is only shipped to mainland Spain (Canary and Balearic Islands, no, sorry).
When will I be able to buy it?
The cart will open on Monday June 26th when the daily email arrives. It will close on Sunday 2nd at 12 midnight or when all the units are sold out. Whichever comes first.
When do the eggs ship?
The eggs will leave Villapez on Thursday afternoon, July 6 and arrive at their destination on Friday, July 7 by 10 am. Therefore, you must make sure you give an address where someone can pick them up at that time. If you are working, give your work address. The sooner you can watch them, the more you will get out of them.
When will we have access to the videos?
As soon as you pay. It is important that you watch a few videos before they arrive so that you are prepared and aware of what is going to happen. You will have access to them until the school year starts.
What language is it in?
Spanish
Do you have more questions?
Answer me to this email and I will be glad to answer you.
Where can I buy it?
Here. But only until 12 o'clock today:
A hug
María
