I fell in love with a fish; things that happen in life.
English version below
Juanillo me presentó a Danio.

Hola somos Carmen y Javier,

I have a friend called Juanillo who has a lot of curls, like ringlets. Underneath his curls, Juanillo hides a shiny brain, and he is very funny.
In 2014, I went to do an internship where he worked because I had to learn about zebrafish, and he was the one who knew the most about that species in the country. I had no particular expectations of the fish, but I knew I would have a great time.
Juanillo introduced me to Danio.
I was flabbergasted.
And that's how I fell in love with a fish. Things that happen in life.
Then, I got my hands on some experiences from the USA with zebrafish in schools and took the fish to the schools. And I started to Learn with Danio and those things you already know (and if you don't know them, I'll tell you the story here).
And it happened; teachers and students told me things like this:
I have loved this project, so I want to thank everyone who made it possible, especially María Jesús, the "boss" of this project, "Learn with Danio." I sincerely hope you will find a cure for some of the diseases that make many families suffer. I have enjoyed and learned a lot; as it is inevitable, I have ended up in love with Danio one hundred percent.
Hi Maria Jesus, I'm Karla from the school in Cascante. I would like to thank you for the experience you have given us, and yes, you are right: when you work with Danio, you fall in love with Danio.
The project is a success; we have taken infant and 3rd-grade students to see them... soon you will see it on the school's social networks.
We are delighted with the project and have already included it in next year's program.
Juan José Fernández, Joyfe School, Madrid
Hi, I am Julia. I have also done the project Learn with Danio, and it has been fascinating. It was fascinating when they told us that we would take you into this project, so if you can enjoy it, don't miss it; you will meet Danio and know where he comes from, why, and what he helps us with... We have all been given this love for Danio and have become curious to learn more about him.
Thank you very much, Txus, for all your support and collaboration. It is a fascinating project to bring students closer to science in a practical way.
Aran, a teacher at Orokieta school
Everything has gone very well. The kids are about to finish their scientific posters. We will participate on the 11th and 12th of April in the school science congress organized by the CSIC in the National Museum of Natural Sciences. With this project and another one we have carried out on antibiotic resistance, they are very enthusiastic. I will send you some photos if you are interested.

Good morning, María Jesús. We are writing to you from the 5th B class in Cascante, and we would like to thank you for allowing us to be natural scientists. You learn not only through books but also through experiments and investigations. With books, you only see words, but you have allowed us to see and feel how a living being is formed. We would love to continue experimenting so other children can live this wonderful experience. A big hug.
Good morning. My name is Monica, and I am a science teacher at a school in Alicante. I have had the good fortune to carry out two projects with Danio in the last two years. As a teacher, scientist, and mother, this type of learning stays with students. Real and motivating projects that contribute to making our children and students happy to learn and future adults with the ability to think. This is the education I believe in and in which we should invest. What can I tell you about these experiences? I highly recommend them; I have never seen students enjoy learning more. Put a Danio in your life!!! Thanks Mª Jesús!!!!
Hi, we are Carmen and Javier. We were lucky enough to do the experiment at home with Mum and loved it. We learned to be natural scientists; it was exciting, and I hope we can do it again.
Hello, I'm Almudena, a primary school teacher at the Mtra. Isabel Gallego Gorria school in Bilbao, where for a while (until a bug infinitely more minor than this one has taken over), Danio has reigned supreme. During this time, we have observed life in its beginnings, its needs, its delicacy... we have protected it, we have examined it under the microscope, we have compared it with the faces of our own... With a bit of luck, some little fish will return to the classroom in a short time due to the love, care, and attention of all of us. And of an experience worth living, the experience of science, of understanding the beginning of life.to recommend.
Hi, I'm Laura. This project has been great, magnificent, and unique... I don't know what words to use to describe it. I will never forget this experience. For me, this project has been very entertaining, fun, complicated... It has been a great experience. I also wish all the scientists the best of luck so that they can find the medicines to cure incurable diseases. Still, the key to fixing them is the interest and the effort.
But the best thing is that you feel like a real scientist because you care for fish that are not typical here and need different things. I wouldn't change this experience for anything.
Natalia, 6th grade
Hi Maria Jesus, we are Karla and Basma from Sª Vicenta Mª school, and we want to thank you for allowing us to feel this experience and to share it with us. Basma and I would like to ask you so that other schools can feel the same as we do.
Basma and Carla
Hi, I'm Inma, a Biology and Veterinary teacher, and carrying out a project like this with my students has been great. From my point of view, practices like this are the ones that really motivate our students' desire to know and learn. Thank you, M Jesús, for making us participate in such a good experience!
I don't know how you see it, but I don't think I'm the only one in love with a fish.
If you are curious about what arouses so many tons of love, take a look at this link:
A hug
