Txus
If you are one of the lucky few to have the Danio kit at home this July there is one day I know you are going to worry about.
It always happens in schools. On the third day, the embryos, which yesterday did not stop moving and had everyone spellbound, no longer move.
And on top of that, they are black.
-My God, are they dying?
-we have done everything I said in the videos.
But suddenly you'll see a heartbeat. Is it the heart? That will reassure you. When your heart beats, you're alive ;)
The embryos don't move so much because they have hardly any room left. And there is little space left inside the egg.
And they have turned black because a pigment called melanin has appeared. It's the same pigment that makes my hair black and protects me from getting sunburned. We have so many of the same things as fish!
In fact, believe it or not, you share 70% of your genes with them. That's why scientists like them.
This kit is accompanied by some videos in which I explain everything that is going on and how you have to take care of your eggs and larvae. I have been doing it for 5 years in schools.
A hug
María
