Y me dijo:
-Well, I am a fishman.
Txus
As I told you the other day, I was lucky enough to visit the best school in the world.
And there was something that I really liked as a veterinarian.
It was full of animals.
There was a farm with two sheep and chicks.
There was a nature classroom with turtles, a gerbil, frogs, an iguana... and I counted at least 3-4 aquariums.
Call me crazy, but I think that if you teach children what an animal is with the animal in front of them, they will have a much more realistic idea of what it is than if they see a Disney movie with humanized versions of animals.
With 25 years in the veterinary profession and a master's degree in animal welfare, I thought these animals were perfectly cared for and looked after by a professional farmer and a "farm teacher" (Aaron).
I was struck by the fact that in some classrooms, aquariums could be seen from the outside of the school through the window glass.
I asked the teacher why he had an aquarium in the classroom. He said:
-Well, I am a fishman. And the students love fish. I always have a lot of kids glued to the aquarium window watching the aquarium.
Well, what do you know, I thought. It's not just for Spanish children ;)
If you put an aquarium in the school, you have all the kids glued like stickers as soon as they go to class, in the whole ball of the world.
They love it.
And what they're looking at is just fish. If you are clever, you can use this ecstasy to teach them what an ecosystem is.
Because dear reader, in an aquarium, you have plants, fish, substrates, millions of micro-organisms, if you like invertebrates... interacting with each other.
It is an ecosystem with all its elements that you can recreate and study at school.
How they do it and how they interact with each other is what I develop extensively in:
I also teach you how to set up an aquarium from scratch, even if this is your first time having one. In a simple, step-by-step way.
If you are interested in the English version about them, just let me know.
A hug
María
