Flechazo en una librería
English version below

A few weeks ago I went to an event at the children's bookstore that organizes the wonderful course I'm taking (Va de cuentos).
And in the queue I started talking to a very elegant and magnetic woman with whom I had a quite magical chemistry.
Curiously, we were coming to the same thing: how to educate children in science through stories and tales. Without really knowing how we got through the event and went for a coffee. Our lives had enormous parallels and we had both faced very similar problems.
Monna, as she was called, seemed to me to be an incredible woman, cosmopolitan, tireless traveler, fighter. She created and runs a foundation Challenging childhoods to do workshops and projects with children in difficult childhoods in Colombia, her country of origin. Take a look at her.
She had written a book aimed at children and adolescents: Pulgarosa, the eco-warrior princess, in which she tells incredible stories of jungle animals. Amazingly similar to what I'm looking to do.
The book costs 15 euros + shipping and can be purchased by writing an email to Monna@challengingchildhoods.com. The proceeds from the sale of the book are used to finance this foundation. Here she tells you what they do with the proceeds:

EDUCATIONAL PROYECTS 2023-24
Out of this book two educational projects have emerged.
1st project
A group of children between the ages of 10-15 have formed their own eco warrior group. Their aim is to produce a newsletter to inform and encourage their neighbours to care for the environment. They live in a rural area on the feet of the Andes mountains known in Colombia as Los Farallones. Besides the news letter they have started a recycling proyect to collect recyclable waste , to sell and set money aside for their newsletter project.
I started an online writing workshop with them. We managed 4 workshops but they ran out of money for internet. I am hoping with the sale of books and donations we will be able to open up an internet account for them. And I have bought 5 tablets for them to work on as the group ( 10 Children) only had 2 laptops to share. I had already donated a laptop but they are expensive and tablets will do the trick.
The 2nd project is facilitated by a teacher, Amparo, in a rural school in the mountains as well, Villa Carmelo. The children have been introduced to the group and are expecting a visit from the author (me). I believe the teacher wants to set up a book club, but I would like to consult with the kids first to see what kind of project they’d like.
I am donating 5 books to start off the reading club, After, we shall see what else we can do. I understand they belong to an organization called Alternative reading spaces as they don’t have access to a library.
Hopefully I will be able to borrow a space in one of the public libraries and continue or start workshops at the library especially during the school holidays in January as this is when I will be in Cali, Colombia.
