Txus.
The other day my husband and I were walking through town.
And then we passed a friend (Rosana) of his from school when they were little with her husband (Roque).
That could have remained the typical banal conversation that goes unnoticed and that you never remember again.
But no, in just 3 or 4 minutes we had a magical connection. Lately I've had that feeling with some people and I love to go deeper when I notice it.
We saw that we had about a thousand things in common: we both liked ceramics, they were biologists, he had dedicated himself to the biology of nature and had been stationed in all the places around here that I love around here, studying unusual bugs, and to top it all off, she worked at the Institute of Neurosciences where I worked for so many years.
I think the four of us realized that there was much more to talk about than that brief street meeting and yesterday we met for dinner.
We kept talking about a thousand topics, verbose and verbose one after the other. Something tells me that these new friends are going to become characters in this newsletter because they are too interesting.
But today I want to focus on Rosana and how we saw ourselves reflected in each other. She was working as an administrator in the same center where I have been working for so many years.
She said to me, but then you are a civil servant?
-Yes, I have been on leave for 5 years.
-But don't you want to come back?
-Man, never if a nuclear cataclysm happens or I become destitute, I'll have to go back, but right now it's the last thing I want to do. I'm passionate about what I'm doing.
And I started to tell him what I have been doing with Danio and how this project has been taking me on exciting adventures that I would never have imagined:
the projects in schools with fish eggs and various other critters,
how I invented a microscope,
how I started this newsletter,
how I've moved from here to digital marketing,
how I've met some very interesting people in these worlds and ended up in Thailand looking for danios and doing meditation memberships,
how I've been able to unleash all the creativity I had muzzled as a civil servant,
as now I don't see any ceiling and that motivates me a lot...
Rosana is a super creative person. She makes lathes, which is the most difficult thing about ceramics, she makes beautiful watercolors, she writes... not to mention that she is a biologist by training.
But she has a great frustration: in her words, she feels wasted in the public administration.
I see myself so reflected in that description, that it even scares me a little bit.
It takes me back a few years ago when I saw myself stagnant, sad and resigned to a life that inertia was leading me to, but which of course was far from what I had planned when you are 20 years old and have a blank canvas to paint.
Until one day I realized that I was only going to live once. I threw the blanket over my head and said, this is it.
So the turnaround I took with my life motivated Rosana a lot.
Of course, but at this moment I tell you the beautiful thing.
5 years, almost 6 in fact, in which I have also made a lot of mistakes and I have been on the verge of throwing in the towel several times. I have entered a jungle, that of entrepreneurship, a total adventure, without having a clue and I have had to unlearn many things.
And I told her exactly what I would do if I were to start over, with what I know now and what I think fits Rosana's possibilities perfectly.
And you know what it is?
Start a newsletter. Make a community of people interested in the same thing you are and see where it takes you. Transform your knowledge into digital products and offer them to everyone: it's the best time in the history of mankind to do this.
But of course Rosana told me, I have no idea about these things.
Well, that's precisely what I do in Moresubscribers, my other digital marketing project. Facilitating the way to people with the same concern that I had and saving them a lot of time. Life is too short to miss it.
If you have seen yourself reflected in Rosana's story or in mine, follow me in my other newsletter where I will offer you the tools that I would have liked to have when I was fully aware that I was only going to live once:
And if you are thinking about how to get started, I would certainly start by starting a newsletter and see where life takes you. Here I show you everything I have learned about this:
A hug
