English version below
Te encuentras mal.
Vas al médico.
Te examina, te hace pruebas,
Piensa…
Afortunadamente, no me hizo caso.
¡Corre!
Un abrazo
Txus
You feel sick.
You go to the doctor.
He examines you, runs tests,
He thinks...
He opens his magic box of pills and chooses the one he knows will cure you.
You take it.
And it cures you.
Cool.
But sometimes, that magic box is missing a pill.
You have something that no matter how hard that doctor thinks, he/she is not going to find the cure in his/her wonderful drawer.
Fortunately, there are doctors who are not satisfied with a missing pill in their magic box.
If they have to cast a new spell to create one, they do it, no matter how difficult it is.
My husband is one of those doctors.
He was missing a pill in his drawer to cure pancreatic cancer.
Eight years ago, we were walking the dogs and he said to me very thoughtfully:
-I'm going to organize a race to raise money for pancreatic cancer research.
I did some quick numbers in my head and said:
-That's very difficult Quique. You're going to spend whatever you raise to pay for the expenses of the race.
Fortunately, he didn't listen to me.
I'm married to an incredibly smart, hard-working, hard-headed guy. And he has another fascinating property: he is able to generate crazy enthusiasm in everyone who listens to him.
So, like an ant, little by little, he began to get everyone who came his way to convince them that it was very important to manufacture the pill that was missing in his drawer: city councils, researchers, ordinary citizens, companies of all kinds...
Today, the cities' race against pancreatic cancer involves a lot of people willing to create a purple pill to put in the magic drawer.
It is done in 7 cities: Alicante, Madrid, Barcelona, Estepona, Tarragona, Vilamartin and Milan, around November 16, which is Pancreatic Cancer Day.
It is expected that this year it will reach one million euros raised. You too can participate in making that pill:
Running in any of these cities. Here you can check the dates. The one in Alicante is on November 19.
Running wherever you are, in the virtual race (or simply making a donation).
Sharing this information among your friends, students, whatsapp groups, etc...
A hug
