No computers,
Without means,
Surrounded by unmotivated colleagues,
In a place ruled by chaos, cartels and the cruelest delinquency,
With students forced by circumstances to live an adult life,
Without courses to explain to him what he had to do.
With his students picking bibliographies out of the trash.
Despite all that, I believe that Sergio Juarez, in Matamoros, Mexico, understood the spirit of LOMLOE.
I bet he didn't know anything about specific competencies, or complex registries that serve no purpose.
He simply saw an inspiring YouTube video, dared to put it into practice in the most adverse conditions and the Learning Situations emerged like mushrooms from the evolution of his students.
When I started with Danio's project, I think this is what I had in my head. Then I saw that in my country they were making a law to learn this way, and it filled me with hope. But then I checked that we had stayed with the part of filling out papers and not with the spirit that I seemed to understand.
Yesterday I saw the movie Radical and came away with that renewed spirit. It may be the film that has impressed me the most in the last decade.
I think it should be required viewing for anyone who has children in their care, as children or as students.
Don't miss it, please. You can see the trailer above.
A huge
