The first beat of a heart, do you want to see it?
English version below

Put your hand on the left side of your chest.
What you notice is your heart beating.
It's been like that since before you were born.
Long before that, in fact. When you were just an embryo.
And as long as you are alive, it will be beating.
But as in everything, there was a first time: a first beat.
It was the first time an organ essential for life was set in motion.
Scientists have seen it, investigated how and why, and published it in the journal Nature on September 27th of that year.
Guess where they have seen this marvel.
Of course, in a zebrafish.
And it's really cool because the heart of these animals is green. They have made a genetically modified fish expressing a protein from the jellyfish (the green fluorescent protein). Scientist stuff.
Watch this amazing video where you can see how the hearts of the little fishes are awakening one by one.
Would you like to see that same heart, not in a video, but live? And would you like your class to understand what science is all about?
