Imagine you've been studying a worm for a year.
But in a big way.
Worm up, worm down.
I get a thousand different breeds,
I look at the face, the legs, the spiracles, the ass...
in small,
big,
that if I make a thousand cool experiences to study it better and show them to the children,
that if I write a story,
And I arrive in another country, on the other side of the world and I go and show the story to some little girls who were so quiet at home with their teddy bears, I give them the story and I ask them if they know that worm and they tell me this:
Yes, they know it.
Of course they do.
The girls' father tells me that in the next village they raise silkworms with mulberry leaves to make silk.
And with that silk they make things that they sell.
So the girls, of course they know the worm.
Now do you understand my face of worm ecstasy when I saw this little girl from a lost village in Vietnam with her teddy bear and my worm story?
Well, it turns out that Hung, our wonderful guide, goes and tells me that there is not only one kind of silkworm, but two?
And I didn't even know that second one.
And it doesn't feed on mulberry, but on yucca, which is the plant that grows there.
Well, tomorrow I'll tell you what happened the next day and you'll be amazed.
The story the girls watched is this one:
Bombyx, the silkworm (Spanish)
Bombyx, the silkworm (English)
