Txus
PD.
I have already told you these days that:
Danio is not a carp (if you see carp in the rivers, it's not because of my Danios).
Danio live in the wild in the rivers of Asia.
Seeing Danio is very exciting. Heart-stopping and such.
Well, last December I went on a trip to Thailand (by the way, an amazing trip that I recommend: Thailand with Fotomundos).
The thing is that, of course, my neuron dedicated to Asia and my neuron dedicated to the Danes made an immediate synapse. Wow, if I see Danios in Thailand, say it wouldn't be cool.
In the official distribution areas there was no Danio rerio (which is "mine") described in Thailand. Still I started my trip with the firm purpose of finding it.
But when I arrived at the first river and saw that it was black and deep I said to myself, no way you are going to find anything here.
So the search for the Thai Danio remained a joke. Every pond I pointed to I would stare at and we all laughed.
Until...
As it turns out, Biere, our Thai guide magically took us to her tropical orchard for a visit. She was excited to show it to us.
I climb on a bridge she had made with her hands, and German, the organizer of the group, happens to ask her if she had seen Danio there and shows her a picture.
Biere says, of course, and points to the river just below our handmade bridge.
And danios start to appear in the crystal clear water.
How do you take it?
Right below us.
I leave you the video of that moment and my conversation with Biere. It's not wasted. Press play (if it doesn't open, put it in your browser).
When you see Danio you feel that emotion, whether in Thailand, in your classroom or at home. These days several parents have written me interested in taking Danio home for their children.
If you are interested, write to me, replying to this email. I will probably send him home.
Best regards
María
PS. The photo I took with the nervous breakdown was a poop. My fish expert friends told me that I couldn't know if it was a danio or not (although after being with them for 5 years, I didn't have much doubt). The thing is that tomorrow I will tell you how I solved this problem to take a better picture.
