Danio ❤️ Montessori
Bombyx, the silkworm (English)
Txus
I have always thought that Danio's projects were very close to the Montessori philosophy.
And I am very fascinated and inspired by the figure of Maria Montessori. She was undoubtedly ahead of her time, refusing to be pigeonholed in what society expected of a woman, or in a single knowledge, mixing like no one else the knowledge of different disciplines. And with this she achieved an educational model that even today, a century later, is tremendously innovative. Someday I will talk about her.
The fact is that yesterday I received this nice email from a teacher of a school in the land of my dear friend Olga:
Hello Txus.
I am M.P., teacher and director of a rural grouped school (CRA) in Zamora, Castilla y León.
First of all, I have been reading your emails for a long time. I love nature, that's why I escaped years ago from Madrid, my hometown, to live in my small town where I have become a rural teacher (I can't be happier).
I am Montessorizing my public school and one of my goals was to buy information books, books that teach real things, science. At that very moment you came along with your silkworm book. These animals were "my pet" during my childhood in the city and I loved them.
I bought your book before Sunday (I'm sending you a photo of the invoice), I'm sending it to you because you said that when I bought it before that date we would receive another one (I'm looking forward to it).
Congratulations on your work, you fit perfectly as a scientific veterinarian so your proposals will be within our project.
I am also sending you the link to our school's instagram in case you know someone who might be interested in rural school, Montessori and all together for free. We are living a dream! This is an old post but with a video that shows the beginnings of our project, I hope you like it!
Well then, thank you so much Marta for your words.
I love your project and I love the illusion you transmit.
If you want to see the project of this school from Zamora, this is their instagram.
And yes, I think as you say that Danio's materials can help you, not only this story:
Bombyx, the silkworm (Spanish).
Bombyx, the silkworm (English)
But also all the projects that I have been developing along these 6 years.
You can see them here:
A big hug
