A ver, a ver…
Vamos a ver qué tal sale.
-Dorle, que ya se cómo.
-¿Ves tú como sí se podía?
-¿Hacemos el piloto en tu cole?
-Claro.

This is the story of how I started with Danio's project. If you have just joined, I advise you to read the previous chapters, or it will be a pity (like catching a good Netflix series halfway through;)
Here you have chapter 1, chapter 2 , chapter 3 and chapter 4.
Here I am with a newly released project and a lot of illusion, but the payroll that came punctually every day 27, stopped coming.
In those my husband goes to Donostia to the house of some lifelong friends and says to Dorleta, who is a teacher:
-Well, Chus has taken a leave of absence and is doing a very cool fish project.
-How's that," says Dorleta. Let's see, let's see...
And Quique tells her.
-Well, you tell Chus she must bring it here to Donosti.
-But Dorle, I can't; I'd have to go there every time I do a project, and that's very expensive.
-Well, set it up however you want, but you bring it with you.
Jo, with that conviction, the Basque woman left me thinking, come on and think about it...
And round and round...
And round and round...
Until it occurred to me: What if I send them the eggs? And since I can't go, I send them some video tutorials, and they can organize themselves. And that way, those videos are shown to the kids in class, and they can use them to follow the activity. Let's see how it goes.
-Dorle, I know how.
-Do you see how it could be done?
-Shall we do the pilot at your school?
-Sure. Bring those fish "pa Igeldo".
Igeldo is an "Eskola Txikiak", an outstanding school on Mount Igueldo, where as there are only a few students, they are grouped by levels. What is small in size is big in the way they encourage and work with their children.
And I sent it to them. But first, I sent it to the teachers so that they could set it up without the kids watching.
The very naughty ones knew something was happening in the teacher's room. And there was a secret there. So they would peek in with the excuse of asking invented questions, and they would open the door... Those things that only a child who knows that on the other side, there is an incredible adventure, and is determined to find out, can do.
Coincidences of life, coincidentally, the head of the biology Berritzegune, Carlos Garcia, was there teaching them how to use the microscope. The Berritzegune is an organization they had in the Basque Country that guides teachers to do innovative projects.
And Carlos, when he saw the kids spying on their teachers doing a science project, he understood that this was something different.
So he said to Dorleta, when you do this, tell me how it turns out. At first Dorleta didn't say anything, but a few days later she said to me.
-Chus, this is a bomb. They skip recess to come and take care of the fish.
To check it in person I went to give them a diploma in person and to verify that they had indeed found out what I had told them. My goodness, they knew more than I did... and they were so motivated....
This reached Carlos' ears.
And he invited me to give some talks to teachers there.
And so the project was taking shape and growing especially in Euskadi.
In honor of that wonderful land that had welcomed Danio so well, I signed my emails, instead of Chus or María Jesús, to Txus, with Tx.
A hug
María
