English version below
He estado unos días mala.
Pues así he estado.
Txus
I've been sick for a few days.
But bad means stuck in bed without being able to move.
And with an insane headache. It hurt to even think.
This is torture for someone who normally wakes up with a firecracker up his ass. Like gagging and tying a Duracell bunny and forcing it to be stuck in its bunny factory box.
He'd have a terrible time.
Well, that's how I've been. Well, me and half of Spain.
We can't even see the culprit: it's a virus. A biological shell that is not even alive because it is not. It needs my poor cells or yours to reproduce.
Viruses cannot reproduce by themselves, they are only a small piece of genetic material and an envelope.
So in order to make many more viruses like them so they can mess up like they do, they have to get into other people's cells and use their machinery to make copies of themselves.
Zombie-like. A little bit creepy.
I don't need to remind you of what a new virus called SARS-Cov2 did not long ago.
Well, these days I am going to talk to you about the flu virus. It is a very interesting virus and with a lot of relation with animals, you will see. In fact, most of the viruses we should be concerned about involve animals in some way.
I'm also going to ask you a favor. I'm going to write a book, just as a New Year's resolution. I want to collect the best science newsletters I have written and use them to write a book.
To see which ones are cooler, the favor I ask you is that if you like them you click on the little heart, so I can see where the shots are. Also if you want me to talk about something, requests are welcome. For that you just answer me to this email and tell me what you would like to know.
The idea is to tell stories of science or animals that are around us in a fun way and that without almost realizing it you learn a little more every day.
A big hug
María
