One fine day, back in the 50's or 60's I imagine, my grandfather made this little house:
It was a little house for his nativity scene. If you turn it over you can read this:
It was a little box of penicillin from Dr. Andreu's lab to treat mastitis in cows.
Although he passed away when I was 6 years old, I have him very much in my mind.
I learned from him, besides the love for the veterinary profession, many other things, among others, that beautiful hobby of transforming medicine boxes into crib houses.
I inherited his crib, and I proudly display it in my living room.
This is "her mountain":
And year after year, I have been adding elements of my own harvest, made with my children.
One year, our village with inn and bar:
Another year we made nativity figurines out of fimo, an unbreakable material, so that any little girl dressed as Santa Claus with her mouth stained with chocolate nougat could imagine her own Christmas scenes:
And so, little by little we have come to this:
Mixing elements from different generations, different styles, different times.
A nativity scene that holds a lot of history and a lot of love, with which I wish you a very happy holiday season.
A big hug
María, proud granddaughter of a veterinarian nativity scene maker.
