5 años con Danio. Capítulo 1 De funcionaria a empresaria, sin paracaídas.
5 years with Danio. Chapter 1 From civil servant to businesswoman, without a parachute.
This newsletter is written in English and Spanish. You can find the English version below.
E innovando, vamos, haciendo algo nuevo.

Danio project is going to be five years old.
It has been 5 great years, in which I have lived great adventures thanks to a fish, and I have learned a lot. I have also had moments of great doubts and uncertainties. But honestly, I think I have impacted the lives of many children and teenagers, helping their teachers present science in a different way.
So I will review the events that led to you reading this email today.
Well, five years ago I left a civil servant position. I took a leave of absence and embarked on a business adventure. A scientist turned entrepreneur, determined to develop an innovative science project thousands of miles away from my comfort zone.
Something that some call "brave"” others "crazy"” It is very unusual, at least in Spain, where being a civil servant is many people's goal and vital objective.
Now I see how reckless I was. Without experience in companies, without help, without subsidies, risking my own patrimony (literally my mother's inheritance)?
And innovating, doing something new.
The first thing they tell you when you start a company is DON'T INNOVATE. Copy what someone else does, and you know it works.
And I understand why they say that. I believe it.
It's super hard.
But how did it all start?
What led me, a sensible person with three children and three dogs to support, to embark on an adventure that civil servants and seasoned businessmen would consider suicide?
Well, it all started in Barcelona in May 2014...
(this is when I tell you that it will continue, and I leave you with the intrigue, hehe).
A hug
María, scientific veterinarian
